Renewable Resource Initiatives and Paper Production

on August 01, 2015 .

There has been a lot of controversy over renewable resources in recent years. Too many years have gone by with nothing being done to replenish the resources we so wastefully take advantage of. Many governments are now stepping in and making big manufacturing companies liable for not putting back the renewable resources that they use. This replenishment can come in a few different forms.

Recycling

A great deal of focus today is on recycling. Landfills are filling up with mountains of trash and waste and simply being covered over with dirt and left to rot in the earth. The soil is being highly compromised by all of this wasteful material within. Although fences are put up around both dumps and landfills to keep people out, fences will do absolutely no good when it comes to harmful contaminates being leaked into the soil. It is for this primary reason that landfills and dumps are definitely not a solution to the problem. Therefore recycling initiatives are making their way into every country throughout the world.

Recycling takes a product such as paper, plastic, or glass and reprocesses it to make something new. Although every product made cannot be recycled, the initiatives proposed in many of these countries will make recycling a mandatory act for both businesses and individual persons. The reduction in waste will result in healthier soil as well as a reduction in pollutants in the air.

Renewable Resources

Although recycling is the main focus for some of these initiatives, many focus on renewable resource management. Many products, such as paper, are renewable resources. For too many years these renewable resources were used without any thought of replenishing what was used. Companies now understand that the replenishment of the natural resource is vital to the future of their companies. Most paper companies now have tree planting programs.

These programs are fantastic for the paper industry. Although it does mean that paper companies have to hire an extra crew to replant where trees have been cut down, the cost of planting far outweighs the cost of not having the trees to cut down in the future. Future costs for paper customers will be greatly impacted by renewable resource initiative such as this. Instead of paying a premium price for a supply and demand issue, we are able to pay low prices because companies are now planning ahead.

More Than Just the Paper Industry Benefits

The renewing of resources has a great effect on the paper industry, but many other benefits as well.  Not only will the cost of paper maintain at a low level, but the benefits to the overall health of the planet will become evident very quickly.

Increase in Wildlife – We all love to see forest creatures roaming around naturally in their environment. Before these renewable resource initiatives, many natural environments were torn down and not replaced. By replacing the trees torn down animals will have a place to call home once again.

Less Pollution – Pollution of the soil through landfills is poisoning wildlife through their food and water sources. By reducing the amount of landfills and dumps we will reduce the poisoning effects of those areas. Wildlife will have clean food sources therefore will be around for us to enjoy them.

Human Benefits – As we all enjoy the beauty of wildlife, humans will benefit as much as the wildlife. With healthier soil gardens will grow far better due to the nutrients within the earth. With healthier soil our food sources will thrive as well.

Europe produces 30% of all the paper in the world. With recycling and renewable resource initiatives, this percentage has great potential for growth. We at Twenty Fingers proud to support these initiatives by using paper only from FSC-certified sources. Healthy soil promotes healthy plants. Healthy plants feeds people and animals. The circle of life will be able to continue and thrive with these initiatives in place and we will be able to continuously offer you more and more great papercuts for you to enjoy at competitive prices.
